BUSINESS BOOK COVERS

Writing a business book builds your brand, your credibility and your authority. Your knowledge and expertise help others while helping your business and marketability.

Your story and professional acumen, as well as your track record, inspire those on the way up or stuck in a professional malaise.  A published book brings attention to that story and acumen, creating a ripple effect to an ever-widening reach. Your book can generate business opportunities and access, which can increase revenue and garner respect! Your story helps those who, like you, once looked to experts for guidance and advice. And book sales mean income!

As a professional, you understand that you need a professional design team to help your book stand out from the millions of other business books published each year. Your business book cover design serves as a marketing tool to distinguish your work from the multitudes, grab eyeballs and generate sales. Coverkitchen cooks up visually stunning covers worthy of your brand and the work you put into writing your story!

Examples of our business book cover designs

We’re proud to show off the work we’ve created in the Coverkitchen: here are three examples of actual business book cover designs we’ve produced:

The Small Print of Success

We love the clean, minimal design of David Thompson’s The Small Print of Success: The Little Details That Will Make a Big Difference to Your Career. The asterisk in the upper left corner draws your eye to the title, while the scuffed paperclip continues onto the spine – it’s the little details that count.

Thinking Backwards

The crisp white and black text pops off the red background for Rob Van Haastrecht & Martin Scheepbouwer’s Thinking Backwards: The Art of Problem Solving in Business. The reversed letters, playfully reference the title and draw the eye and remain easily legible. Typography-based book cover design is just one of the dishes cooked up in the Coverkitchen!

Made in China

Made in China: Secrets of China's Dynamic Entrepreneurs, by Lily Zhang, utilizes an iconic Chinese dragon, red for luck and prosperity. Our chefs also served up hand-lettered type reminiscent of a red-character (Zhuwen) stamp, traditionally printed from a stone seal.

Coverkitchen works closely with authors and publishers to create original designs, your cover is not finished until you sign off on it. Our team is highly trained and experienced and we love what we do. Our chefs create masterpieces, not fast food - and there’s never a hidden cost or surprise!

What makes a great business book cover design?

Like any other marketing device, your book cover must be original and striking. Like all other books, your cover must convey genre, a hint at the narrative and the author’s brand. The designer must grab readers at thumbnail size to stand out on online sites (such as Amazon).

The design elements that go into book cover creation

  • Typography - Font choice, including hand-lettered type, conveys professionalism, contemporary styling and brand while creating a focal point to grab the eye. Professionally designed type is legible at all sizes with considerations for title length.

  • Color Palette - colors create contrast and communicate to potential readers by creating an emotional response and inspiring a reaction. Colors speak a subconscious language, i.e., white for purity, integrity and excellence, whereas red conveys strength, power and confidence. Black also imparts power, but also formality, class and sophistication. Every color has a meaning and speaks its own language.

  • Imagery - Photographs and illustrations add impact and visual appeal while connecting with readers and creating a powerful first impression. They help convey narrative but urge your audience to want more by opening the book.

Coverkitchen are experts in typography, color psychology and imagery (photography, hand-created or computer-generated illustrations and 3D imagery) to create your perfect and unique book cover.
