How do I get started?
Select your package or individual items on our Services Page. Next, you will be directed to our project order form with the following steps:
- Breakdown and total price calculation of your order.
- Design brief questionnaire.
- Terms agreement and non-refundable 50% retainer payment.

Do I have to sign a contract?
Our submission form includes a Terms and Conditions Agreement that makes sure you know what you will get and how.

My book is not ready yet, can you design the cover?
We can start to design the cover for your book even if your mansucript is still being edited or proofread. It's a great way to promote your book before is published.

How should I prepare my manuscript for interior design?
Please, provide us with a Word format file of your manuscript properly styled, edited and proofread. Indicate paragraph breaks, avoid using the tab key for indents or hard returns for line breaks.
The Process

How many initial book cover concepts will I see?
We submit up to 3 different cover concepts

Can I have custom illustration or photography for my book?
Yes. Our signature creative skillset includes original in-house imagery. This allows to create unique covers, in concept and execution.

How many revisions will I get?
We offer 4 rounds: An initial drafts submission, followed by three iteration rounds. Don't worry much about this, minor changes such as color or font will not be considered revision rounds.

Do you use stock imagery?
We prefer to use our own image-making skillset but some projects may require use of stock illustration or photography.

What if I want to cancel my collaboration?
You can cancel the collaboration any time before approval of the design. Just keep in mind that the 50% retainer fee you paid upfront is non-refundable.
Deliverables

When will I receive the production-ready files?
Following your full balance payment, we will release production-ready files within one working week, provided you already have the materials ready to complete the artwork.

What files will I receive?
We deliver production-ready files in the following formats:
- Print book cover and interior: press-quality PDF compliant with your platform of choice (KDP, Ingram Spark, Book Baby) or your local press.
- eBook: ready-to-upload ePub file.
- Mockups: JPG with white background, PNG with transparent
- Ads: JPG

Do you provide with the source files?
We can provide source files of original artwork created by us but we cannot release files of licensed assets such as fonts or files containing licensed stock illustration or photography unless the end-user license agreement (EULA) allows it.

Can I request changes on the design after final files delivery?
We can make further changes on complete projects upon a surcharge according to the extent and complexity of those changes.
Payment

Do I have to make any payment upfront?
Yes. A non-refundable 50% retainer payment is due upon submission of our project order form. You will receive an invoice and payment receipt. The full balance is due after final approval of the design.

What payment methods do you accept?
Upon submission of our project order form, you can choose between debit and credit card payment or bank transfer to our USD account.

When I am expected to make full balance payment?
Full balance payment is due after final approval of the design.
Copyright

Who will own the rights of my book cover?
Coverkitchen is the copyright owner of both design and imagery created in-house. We don't own the copyright of stock illustration or photography licensed from a third party such as Shutterstock, Depositphotos or iStock.

Is there any limitation in the usage of my design?
We grant you exclusive right license to publish, republish, transmit and distribute the artwork, and/or promotional materials associated to the your book, in whole or in part in electronic and print editions in perpetuity and throughout the world. Read licence agreement in our Terms and Conditions page for more details.

Can I buy the rights of your original artwork?
A transfer of copyright ownership can be considered upon an agreement.

Do I have to purchase stock images for my cover?
No. We buy a license from the stock provider for each image we may use for your book.
