Notes for a Eulogy recounts a 23-year relationship between a man, Morley Peck, and a woman, Francine Tanzer, that is entirely based on lying. They meet at work and although they go their separate ways after one year, they remain friends for the other 22, occassionally meeting up at diners to exchange stories and comment on their jobs. Morley, an inward, quiet man, tells Francine more about himself than he's ever told anyone, except that everything he tells her is a lie.
After discussing the book at length with the author, our cover cooks were inspired to use handwritten notes on a diner’s paper napkins, as if they were quick notes taken during these deceitful meetings. Photographed napkins superimposed with text composed the final cover design.
