Healed is the true account of the struggles, heartbreaks, failures, but ultimate victory of a life salvaged against all odds. Lacole Robinson grew up in the gang-infested neighborhoods of southeast San Diego. In a community of adults lost to either drug abuse or prison, she was forced to grow up too fast — until she ended up in prison herself. Yet Robinson emerged from the depths of poverty, loss, and dysfunction to show us a better way. Her life and story teach us that with faith, everything is possible.

Taking a typographic design approach, our cover cooks found inspiration in a paragraph from the book: “I was promoted to be a driver. It was a huge upgrade from my previous position. Finally, I’m about to start making some real money. I must go for a week to a very intense training school. It felt like boot camp. But I passed, and now I’m certified to be a UPS driver. I’m super excited for my new journey! God is working in my favor. I get a call from my parole officer on October 3, saying I’m off parole. They were letting me off parole a year earlier than I was supposed to get off. He tells me to keep up the good work and keep moving forward."

Hinting to the book's concept of healing, clear tape can be seen sealing a battered UPS parcel together. Based on UPS labels, both the author’s name and “A Memoir” are placed on the label along with the barcode. The hand lettering of the title has a street art look and feel, reminiscent of the neighborhoods in which the author grew up.
